Modernization of the Sulphuric Acid Plant of YARA’s Siilinjärvi Operation (Finland)
YARA awarded the Step II of the modernization programme of the Siilinjärvi Sulphuric Acid- Facilities to HUGO PETERSEN. The contract comprise major equipment of the conversion group like Gas/Gas Heat-Exchangers and the Converter. With the modernization a boost in capacity and reduction of emissions is envisioned.
Hugo Petersen, the original designer of this acid plant in the year 1969, could demonstrate in the last 4 years its capabilities in short-termed revamps at
- the sulphur-burning add-on in the year 2006/2007
and
- the replacement of the gas-cleaning section downstream the pyrite-roasters in the year 2010 with excellent cleaning results.
The existing converter was in operation for more than 40 years and will be now replaced by the new generation of PETERSEN stainless steel converter.
HUGO PETERSEN thanks YARA for the trust in the continuing cooperation between both parties.
HUGO PETERSEN will do it's very best to add again value to YARA's Siilinjärvi Operation and to extent the lifetime of the sulphuric Acid Plant for the next decades.
